In an attempt to prevent damages and thefts, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has decided to digitise its data.
It has already launched the project on a pilot basis in Panchkula district and would gradually implement it across the State. Many documents were destroyed in a recent fire in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and this is an attempt to prevent any loss of data due to such disasters in the future.
HUDA records, which run into tens of thousands of pages, will be digitised and put on the Authority’s website in the next few weeks. An estimated budget of Rs. 10 crore has been approved for the project. A special team has been formed to ensure the implementation of the project. Once executed, it would benefit 2.5 lakh and 33,000 alottees in Panchkula and across the State, respectively.
The department has already invited expressions of interest from companies. As far as the process is concerned, each page will be scanned and uploaded on HUDA’s website besides a hard copy being stored in its record room.
