In an era increasingly characterised by the use of social media for better delivery of services and making governance a two-way process, the Indian Railways has launched a page on Facebook to inform passengers about the latest position of a train, and its arrival and departure.
A similar page launched by the Delhi division of the Railways in April this year had received tremendous response. Taking its cue from the same, the Railways has launched this page to deliver better passenger services.
Northern Railway General Manager S.K. Budhalakoti said the Railways is informing people about the latest development activities and facilities at the railway stations and responding to queries. The Facebook page of the Delhi division also informs passengers about platform numbers of both the arriving and departing trains at New Delhi, Old Delhi and Nizamuddin railway stations.
Besides these, the Railways has also introduced a centralised SMS-based complaint monitoring system. Citizens can register complaints through an SMS to +91 9717630982 and officials take immediate action to redress the grievances.
