All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi will soon give online access to all information on the treatment history to its patients.
Such information will be made available by the Knowledge Centre of the proposed Convergence Centre, to be built at a cost of Rs 50.85 crore in the next 18 months.
AIIMS spokesperson Y.K. Gupta said the plan is to introduce an extensive online database of all types of patients and drugs prescribed. He said the database will also contain “information related to surgeries done, clinical research conducted at the Institute and its findings.”
Such a database will help map the disease pattern in the country and the way it reflects among the out patients department (OPD) at AIIMS. This will enable patients to get all recent information on treatment modality. It will also encourage clinical research.
